The Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) test is offered at our annual Dog Show. This year the test will be in Friday, Oct. 13th 2017.
The purpose of the Canine Good Neighbour Program test is to ensure that your dog is accepted as a valued member of the community. Canine Good Neighbours can be counted on to present good manners at home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs.
Canine Good Neighbour training is fun, rewarding, and useful, and can enable owners to achieve a better relationship with their dogs.
All dogs (incl. mixed-breeds) are eligible to take the test.
Detailed information on the program can be found on the Canadian Kennel Club website – Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) Participants book (pdf file)

Alberni Valley Kennel Club is pleased to support the Lions Foundation of Canada and the Purina Walk for Dog Guides, by participating and donating to the Walk.
We had a chance to meet local Guide Dog, Shadow is a seizure response dog for Kayla Aolick. He is very special to her and gives her the comfort and care to live a more independent life. Kayla wants someone else to get the gift of a dog to make their life better. It takes the donations of many to support the guide dog program. Every little bit helps.
You can still donate online: Port Alberni Purina Walk for Dog Guides
Also at the walk, AV Lions BBQ, Mini Silent Auction, Kids Draw and Bosley’s.
AV Kennel Club challenged all Obedience Class participants (past & present) to donate.
The weather was great and there were lots of dogs. (Congrats to Roberta for walking 4 of her standard poodles.)
If you missed it, be sure to mark it on your calendar for next year.
An entry is $10. per dog/trial. (We will help you schedule multiple dogs &/or schedule you in each trial)
Don’t forget to bring your AIOC Trial Cards. If you are new to AIOC, please bring your Kennel Club Membership card.
We will take registration from the dogs that will go in the ring first. (Obedience – Utility, Open… Rally – Novice A & B…)
